Our StoryLori and Steve Clayton are the owners of Threads Run Thru It, Inc, your full service quilt shop.
In June 2001,Lori and Steve retired after 20+ years in the United States Navy and a few years later moved to their farm in Phenix, VA and built a log home.
Lori was looking for ways to keep busy, so in 2004 she purchased a commercial embroidery machine and started “Threads Run Thru It” from her home. In 2007, they purchased a Gammill Longarm Quilting machine to expand their business.
Lori's mother had taught her to sew early in life
and through the years she made hundreds of items such as shirts, dresses, valances, table cloths and runners, curtains, costumes. "You name it, I tried to sew it," Lori shared. In the mid 1980s, she learned to quilt. In the back of her mind, she dreamed of owning her own quilt shop someday and now, her dream is reality. On Nov 29th, 2010, they opened there first quilt shop.
Threads Run Thru It continued to expand to not only offer fabric, but domestic machines and later on Gammill Longarm Quilting Machines. It was soon realized that a larger space was needed. In April of 2017, Steve and Lori moved their Quilt Shop the current Rustburg, VA, location.
Threads Run Thru It has a friendly staff with varied quilting backgrounds to address the needs of all customers. The quilt shop carries over 2500 bolts of fabric along with Baby Lock, Bernina, Juki and Handi Quilter. Customers can find a variety of classes to either begin their quilting journey or enhance their quilting skills. Customers also have the pleasure of enjoying the quilter's cafe. TRTI also offer long arm machine quilting.
